Description
No. 18 and 18A Etnam Street is a house dating from the early 19th century, with a mid-19th century addition. The building features rusticated stucco on the ground floor and brick above, topped with a Welsh slate roof and brick stacks at both ends and at the rear. It stands three storeys high and has a three-window range, with 6/6 sash windows in rendered reveals beneath gauged brick flat arches, and 3/6 sash windows also under gauged brick flat arches. A stucco cornice with enriched consoles supports a slate-coped parapet.
The entrance is located to the right, accessed by steps leading to a two-panel door with a plain overlight set within a round-headed panelled reveal, framed by a moulded architrave and topped with a moulded flat hood on paired pilasters. To the left of the entrance are two 6/6 sash windows. The building has a moulded storey band and plinth.
The mid-19th century wing on the right has a hipped Welsh slate roof and a banded brick ridge stack. This section is two storeys high and features three 6/6 sash windows with cambered heads under segmental arches. The central entrance consists of 12-panel double doors beneath a fanlight, framed by an elliptical arch with a stucco keystone, and is flanked by two 6-panel doors with fanlights under semicircular arches with keystones and a lintel-band. The interior has not been inspected.
