Description
No. 26 Church Street is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a Welsh slate roof with brick end stacks at the rear. The building has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with a four-window range, although the right side is blocked. The windows are 9/9 sashes set in rendered reveals, topped with stepped grooved stucco lintels that have keyblocks. There is a moulded wood cornice at the eaves and gable, with a 19th-century three-light casement window beneath a grooved stucco lintel. The central entrance consists of a six-fielded-panel door with a margin-glazed overlight, sheltered by a moulded wood flat hood supported by scrolled brackets. On either side of the entrance are 6/6 sash windows, also with grooved stucco lintels, and there is a blocked opening to the right, with a storey band above. The left side of the building features a returned storey band and a tier of blocked openings beneath gauged brick flat arches, with a similar tier on the rear wing. The interior has not been inspected.
