Description

Watergate Cottage is a house that possibly dates back to the 16th century and has undergone later alterations. It features a timber frame with plaster infill, with some areas finished in brick and roughcast. The roof is tiled, and there is a brick gable stack. The building has a rectangular plan that is either two or three bays wide and is aligned north to south, standing two storeys tall.

On the west elevation, there are two windows: a 2-light late 19th-century casement window to the left of centre and a contemporary one-light casement window to the right of centre. The ground floor also has a 2-light casement window to the right of centre. The timber frame consists of four panels high from the cill to the wall-plate, with closely-set studding on the ground floor and square panels on the first floor. The south gable is finished in roughcast. The gable entry on the north-east elevation is supported by brick underpinning. The interior has not been inspected.
