Description
Highways is a house that possibly dates back to the 16th century but has undergone extensive alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It features square panelled timber-framing, with sections of painted brick and 20th-century infill on a sandstone rubble plinth, topped with a tiled roof. The building is arranged in three bays, aligned east to west, and faces south, with a large lateral stack at the rear. There are entrances on the south front. The house has two storeys and a jettied upper floor on the south side. The first floor includes four 2-light casement windows, with a ledged door to the left and two more 2-light casement windows to the right. There is an additional ledged door and 2-light casement window further to the right, along with another 2-light casement window and ledged door. The interior frame is largely hidden.
