Description
Forsythia and West Leigh is a house that has been divided into two tenements. It has a core that dates back to the 14th or 15th century and has undergone alterations in the 17th century and significant changes in the mid-19th century. The building features square panelled timber-framing with painted brick infill and a sandstone rubble plinth, topped with a hipped Welsh slate roof. The former hall is aligned east to west and is flanked by cross-wings. The entire structure has been re-roofed, with the gables of the cross-wings cut back, resulting in a hipped roof. It has lateral and axial stacks and stands two storeys tall.
On the south front, there is a three-light casement window in the jettied left cross-wing, along with a two-light window and a four-panelled door on the ground floor. The central hall features a two-light casement window and a panelled door on the ground floor. The former cross-wing on the right has a canted bay window and a ledged door. The right-hand cross-wing shows traces of a moulded bressummer, although the jetty has been underbuilt.
