Description
This outbuilding, located about 20 yards east of Woodseaves Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century. It is constructed from timber framing and weatherboarding, topped with a stone-tiled roof laid in diminishing courses. The building has a T-plan layout, featuring a main range with four framed bays oriented north-east to south-west. At the south-west end, there is a wagon bay with opposed cart entries and double doors. An intersecting cross-wing with three framed bays is attached to the south-west end.
On the north-west elevation, the main range includes three doors, two double doorways, and a gabled dormer that has a shuttered loft opening. The cross-wing gable end features one door and another loft opening. Inside, the wall framing consists of three rows of panels extending from the sill to the wall plate, with short straight upper corner braces. The main range has collar and tie-beam end trusses, which include struts and rails, as well as arch-braced intermediate tie-beam trusses with two pairs of raking struts. The cross-wing contains collar and tie-beam trusses with struts throughout and features two tiers of trenched purlins.
