Description

EARDISLEY CP WOODS EAVES SO 24 NE 5/101 Yew Tree House 19.8.53 II House. C17, altered mid-C19 and mid-C20. Timber-framed with painted brick infill on rubble base, painted brick replacement walling and stone- tiled roof laid in diminishing courses. Two framed bays aligned north-west/ south-east, large painted external rubble chimney with two diagonal brick stacks on south-west side. Two storeys and attic. Framing: four rows of square panels from sill to wall-plate, short straight braces in some upper corners. The wall-plate projects at the south-east gable end on shaped brackets. Collar and tie-beam trusses with two collars and struts. South- east front elevation: there are two 3-light ground floor casements, a 3-light first floor casement and an attic light. Central entrance has a flat canopy on metal brackets and a C20 door. There is an original blocked 2-light window on the north-east side of the ground floor and also an original 3-light chamfered mullioned window on the ground floor at the north-west gable end. This is now enclosed by a lean-to outshut. Interior: chamfered main ceiling beams. Large fireplace retained. (RCHM, III, p 56, item 57).
