Description

Yew Tree House is a 17th-century house that has been altered in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill set on a rubble base, along with painted brick replacement walling and a stone-tiled roof laid in diminishing courses. The house has two framed bays oriented north-west to south-east and includes a large painted external rubble chimney with two diagonal brick stacks on the south-west side. It is two storeys tall with an attic.

The framing consists of four rows of square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces in some upper corners. The wall-plate at the south-east gable end projects on shaped brackets. The roof structure includes collar and tie-beam trusses with two collars and struts.

On the south-east front elevation, there are two three-light casement windows on the ground floor, a three-light casement window on the first floor, and an attic light. The central entrance features a flat canopy supported by metal brackets and a 20th-century door. There is also an original blocked two-light window on the north-east side of the ground floor, as well as an original three-light chamfered mullioned window on the ground floor at the north-west gable end, which is now enclosed by a lean-to outshut.

Inside, the house retains chamfered main ceiling beams and a large fireplace.
