Description

Woodseaves is a house likely dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The construction is timber-framed, with painted brick infill between the timbers and a painted rubble base. Some areas are painted rubble walling and weatherboarding, topped with a machine-tiled roof. A rendered stack sits along the ridge. The house has a four-bay layout, aligned north-east to south-west, with a single storey and an attic containing dormers. The timber framing features two and three-panel sections from the sill to the wall-plate, with collar-and-tie-beam trusses, a portion of which is exposed at the south-west end. The south-east front elevation includes a two-light casement, a three-light casement, and a single-light casement, all with plank shutters. Two dormers have raking tops and two-light casements; a skylight is also present. The main entrance, on the left end, is sheltered by a lean-to canopy (an extension of the roof) and has a 20th-century door. The north-east bay appears to be largely constructed from rubble and may have originally served as a byre, featuring a ventilation slit in the front elevation. An outshut with a half-hipped roof is attached to the south-west end.
