Description
No 2 Lower Welson is a house that likely dates from the early 18th century and was altered in the mid-19th century. It is timber-framed with mainly painted brick infill set on a rubble base, featuring a rubble wall at the west end and a rendered gable at the east end. The roof is stone-tiled and laid in diminishing courses, with a brick chimney stack located at the west end of the building. The house consists of two framed bays aligned east to west and has two storeys. The framing includes two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, with the ground floor windows having plank weatherings. The central entrance is marked by a gabled timber porch that shelters a 19th-century ledged and battened door. At the east end, there is a rubble and timber lean-to outshut with a door positioned at the south end.
