Description
This building, located about 10 yards south-west of New House, is a house that was originally a smithy, dating from the 18th century or earlier, with alterations made in the mid to late 19th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick, boarded, and rendered infill set on a tall rubble base, topped with a corrugated metal roof. The structure consists of two framed bays aligned in a north-east to south-west direction and stands two storeys high. The framing includes two panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with collar and tie-beam trusses that have struts at the gable ends. On the south-east front elevation, there are two shuttered square windows on the ground floor, two first-floor 2-light casements, and a ledged and battened door in the south-west bay. Additionally, there is a lean-to timber outshut with double doors that adjoins the north-east end.
