Description
The barn and stable, located about 30 yards north-east of St Mary's Farmhouse, is likely from the 18th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding on a rubble base, featuring a rubble wall at the south-west end and a machine-tiled roof. The structure consists of five framed bays oriented north-east to south-west, with a central wagon bay that has opposing cart entries and double doors.
On the north-west elevation, there is a ground floor 2-light window with a plank weathering and a timber lean-to outshut at the left end. The south-west gable end includes a 2-light window, a loft door, and a stable door. Inside, the wall-framing consists of three panels from the sill to the wall-plate. The roof features collar and tie-beam trusses with struts throughout, a V-strut above the collar of the north-west end truss, and two tiers of trenched purlins. The barn and stable are situated adjacent to the roadside, east of the driveway leading to St Mary's Farmhouse, and are included for their group value.
