Description
This barn and stable, located about 10 yards north-west of Fernhall Farmhouse and adjoining a cowhouse, is likely from the 18th century. It features a timber frame and is weatherboarded, sitting on a tall rubble base with some rubble walling. The stone-tiled roof is laid in diminishing courses. The structure probably consists of six bays aligned north-west to south-east. There is a wagon bay with opposed cart entries and double doors in the third bay from the south-east end. The stable is located in the south-east end bay and includes a two-light ground floor window, a loft window, and a door, all with cambered heads at the gable end. A lean-to outshut is attached to the south-west side of the south-east end bay. The interior was not accessible during the survey in July 1986. This building is close to Fernhall Farmhouse and is included for its group value.
