Description
Hockerills Mill is a barn and stables, likely built in the mid-18th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with some weatherboarded timber-framing and features a plain tiled roof. The building consists of six bays arranged in a north/south orientation. The wagon bay, located second from the north end, has opposing cart entries with double doors. The north end bay is timber-framed and includes long rectangular panels.
On the west elevation, to the right of the wagon bay, there are three two-light windows with cambered heads, two doors, a stable door, and a two-light window at the upper level. The gable ends feature large lights with cambered heads.
Inside, the roof is supported by intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts at the north end. The three southernmost bays have been floored. Additionally, there is a single-storey wing with a two-plus-two-bay layout that adjoins to the northwest.
