Description

The Dingle is an early 18th-century house with alterations from the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It is timber-framed and has painted brick and rendered infill, with a shallow-pitched Welsh slate roof. The house has two framed bays aligned east/west, and features an external rubble chimney with offsets and a rebuilt brick stack at the west gable end. It stands two storeys high. The framing on the south elevation incorporates four rows of square panels from sill to wall-plate, with some long straight braces in the lower corners. A tie-beam truss with raking struts is visible at the west gable end, and a king-post truss at the east gable end. The south elevation's ground floor has two pairs of 2-light casements with plank weatherings, and a 2-light casement on the first floor. The interior was not inspected, but the framing appears largely intact. A 19th-century wing adjoins the north elevation, with a 20th-century lean-to addition at the north gable end, which now provides the main entrance.
