Description
Hop barn and adjoining stables located immediately northwest of Naykers Hall, built around the late 18th century or early 19th century, reputedly in 1800. The structure is made of red brick and features Welsh slate roofs with gabled ends and brick dentil eaves. The building has a rectangular plan, with the left bay containing two drying kilns above a vaulted cellar, while the right-hand bay includes a cooling room and a hop press on the first floor, with attics above. There is a single-storey stable range adjoining on the north side, which is likely from the same period.
The west front of the barn is two storeys with an attic, and the stable range is one storey with a loft. On the west front, there are two plank doors on the left, one featuring a cambered arch, and a small six-pane window to the right. The first floor has two twelve-pane windows, also with cambered arches. The single-storey stables on the right have two plank doors and a small loft door.
Inside, the south bay has a brick-vaulted cellar with two hop-drying kilns above the fireplaces, while the north bay features a flagstone floor and a cooling room above with a hop press.
