Description
Rochford Mount and The Mount is an 18th-century house that has undergone mid-19th century and late 20th century alterations and additions. The building features finely jointed handmade brick and a plain tiled roof, which includes gable-end parapets with kneelers and ridge end stacks. It stands two storeys high, with a cellar and an attic that has dormers, and is adorned with a dentilled eaves cornice. The façade consists of three bays, with wedge lintels and 12-pane sash windows on the main storeys. There are three 20th-century flat-roofed dormers featuring 2-light casements. The central entrance is highlighted by a timber trellised porch with a curved lead canopy and a round-headed archway that has trefoils pierced in the spandrels. The doorway is flanked by fluted pilasters and features a six-panelled door. The gable ends have attic lights, and there is a large original wing at the rear right.
