Description

No. 132 The Mount is a house, now functioning as a guesthouse, built around 1830. It is constructed of brick featuring red brick arches and painted stone or stucco dressings, topped with a slate roof. The building has three storeys, an attic, and a cellar, and is composed of two bays.

On the ground floor, to the right, there is a white-painted sashed canted bay window with a mutule cornice, situated on a canted brick base that includes cellar windows. The first-floor windows are sashed without glazing bars and are framed by narrow architraves, set within shallow stucco recesses topped with elliptical rubbed brick arches. These windows have a sill band and open onto a stone balcony with iron railings that feature rectangular panels with diagonal patterns. The second-floor windows are glazing bar sashes with rubbed brick flat arches. The attic is illuminated by two 20th-century lead-covered dormers with tilting windows that have glazing bars.

The doorcase on the left is adorned with engaged barleysugar columns topped with Corinthian capitals, and it features a fanlight above a four-panel door. Access to the door is via renewed external steps. The building has shared chimneys on both the left and right sides. The interior has not been inspected.
