Description
No. 134 The Mount is a house that has been converted into a hotel, built in the mid to late 19th century. It features yellow brick with painted dressings and a slate roof. The building stands three storeys high, with an attic and cellars.
The right side of the facade includes a brick and painted stone or stucco canted bay window, which has openings at the cellar, ground, and first-floor levels, topped with a cornice above the first floor. The second floor has two 20th-century casement windows. On the left side, there is a sashed window at the first floor above the doorway, and a canted oriel at the second floor with sashes that do not have glazing bars. The attic features two 20th-century flat-roofed dormers with casements.
The entrance door consists of three panels and has a plain semicircular overlight, framed by a simple painted surround with a cornice supported by brackets. Access to the door is via external steps that have been renewed in concrete. The building has chimneys located on the left side, near the center of the ridge, and shared with the right side.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value as part of the early 19th-century houses on The Mount.
