Description
Bine Cottage is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The building is timber-framed with painted brick infill, replacement walling, and a plain tiled roof. It has three framed bays that run north to south and features external chimneys at both gable ends. The north chimney is original, made of rubble and includes a bread oven with a detached brick stack, while the south chimney is made of 19th-century brick. The cottage is a single storey with an attic that has dormers.
The framing consists of three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with collar and tie-beam trusses supported by struts. The east front elevation includes two ground floor two-light casement windows, one of which has a cambered head, and three gabled dormers with two-light casements. There is a central lean-to porch from the 20th century, which is partly glazed, leading to a half-glazed door.
The interior has not been inspected but is reported to retain much of its internal framing, including the roof structure. At the rear, there is an outshut beneath a catslide roof.
