Description
Church Farm Cottage is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid 19th century and mid 20th century. The building features a timber frame with rendered and painted brick infill, as well as painted brick replacement walling and refacing. It has a plain tiled roof, a large external brick chimney at the south gable end, and an additional brick chimney off the ridge pitch at the north end. The structure consists of two framed bays and is a single storey with an attic that includes a dormer.
The framing includes two square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, and the tie-beam trusses in the gable ends have two queen struts to the collar and a V-strut in the apex. The elevation facing the lane has a two-light casement window and a rectangular light, with attic lights in the gable ends. The main entrance is located on the west elevation, featuring a part-glazed door and a lean-to porch supported by timber uprights. Above the entrance is a gabled dormer with a finial and a casement window with a cambered head.
The interior has not been inspected. At the south gable end, there is a mid 20th-century lean-to extension built around the external chimney.
