Description

Beechwood House, formerly known as The Firs, is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It is constructed of brick and features a hipped slate roof behind a front parapet, with large brick stacks located at the rear wings. The house stands three storeys tall and includes a cellar. A moulded cornice runs beneath the front parapet, and there is a dentilled eaves cornice at the sides and rear.

The building has five bays, with windows that feature stone sills and gauged flat heads. The ground and first floor windows are glazing bar sashes, while the second floor has 6-pane sashes. The central entrance is highlighted by a doorcase with an open pediment, a modillion cornice, a moulded architrave, and a 6-panelled door topped with a traceried fanlight. Stone steps with ornate wrought iron railings lead up to the door, positioned at right angles to the wall face. The interior of the house has undergone significant alterations.
