Description

Tapenhall House is an early 19th-century house located in the parish of Ombersley. The house is constructed of brick with a hipped slate roof featuring overhanging eaves, and substantial brick stacks along the side ridges. It is three storeys high, with a cellar. The house has three bays, and all windows have gauged flat heads. The ground and first floor windows of the outer bays are 3-light casements with transoms. The first floor and second floor windows of the outer bays are 3-light casements, while the central bay windows on the first and second floors are 2-light casements. The central doorway is topped with an open pediment and a dentilled cornice, flanked by pilasters. It contains a 6-panelled door with four raised and fielded panels, and a traceried, segmental fanlight above. The interior of the main front rooms is characterised by moulded wood fireplaces and moulded architraves to the doors, all of a matching design. In a rear left first-floor room, there is a full-height fitted cupboard door made from re-used sections of elaborate 17th-century panelling.
