Description
Brookhill Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century that was restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with painted brick infill, a brick plinth, and a partly half-hipped, plain tiled roof. The main ridge has a brick stack with two star-shaped shafts and a combined cap. The house is L-shaped, consisting of a main part with three framed bays and a cross-passage oriented on a west/east axis, along with a two-bay wing at the north-west end. It is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers.
The framing of the main range has irregularly-sized panels, primarily three from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces in the upper corners. A probable upper cruck truss is exposed in the east gable end. The two-bay wing has three regularly sized panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight braces in the lower corners, and a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and a V-strut in the apex at the gable end.
On the front elevation, the main part has three ground floor 20th-century casements, three gabled dormers with 20th-century casements, and a 20th-century door at the cross-passage entrance. The wing features a 20th-century ground floor casement, an attic light, and a gabled dormer with a casement in the angle with the main part. The interior has not been inspected. Additionally, there is a 20th-century half-hipped, brick single bay addition adjoining the left gable end.
