Description
Rock's Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-20th century. It has a timber-framed structure with painted brick infill on a rubble base, and the gable ends are made of rendered coursed limestone rubble, with some brick replacement walling. The roof is thatched and features a brick stack at the south end of the ridge. The building consists of two framed bays aligned north to south and is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers. The framing displays three rows of square panels from the sill to the wall-plate.
On the west front elevation, all the windows are 20th-century casements, including a 2-light and a 4-light window on the ground floor, as well as two eyebrow dormers with 2-light windows. There is also an attic light at the north end. A 20th-century single-storey wing is attached to the south gable end, which contains the main entrance and a rectangular light in its west side elevation.
