Description
Old Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, along with brick replacement walling that is painted to resemble the original framing. The roof is plain tiled. The building consists of three framed bays that are roughly aligned north to south, with a large chimney situated between the north and central bays. There is a brick ridge stack and a 20th-century external chimney at the south gable end. A brick bay is attached to the north gable end, continuing the roof ridge. The house is single storey with an attic that includes dormers.
The west front elevation displays irregular fenestration, featuring three 2-light casements and one 3-light casement. There are also two 20th-century flat-roofed dormers with 3-light casements and a 20th-century stable door located in the north bay of the original part. Attic lights are present in the gable ends. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to retain much of its internal framing. There are 20th-century additions at the rear.
