Description
Tibberton Bridge No 25 is a canal road bridge built in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of red and blue brick, featuring blue brick coping. The bridge has an elliptical arch with cambered sides. The parapet includes a two-course band at the base, is splayed at each end, and is finished with square piers that have sandstone capping. The north end of the east parapet was rebuilt in the late 20th century. This bridge is part of the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, which was constructed for the Earl of Dudley between 1791 and 1815 to connect the Birmingham Canal Navigations with the River Severn, primarily to facilitate the transport of coal from the Black Country to the south-west Midlands. The towpath runs beneath the east side of the bridge.
