Description
Cherry Tree Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid-17th century, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill set on a rubble base, along with a coursed limestone rubble gable end on the west side. The roof is thatched, half-hipped at the east gable end, and has a brick ridge stack at the west gable end. The building consists of two framed bays aligned east to west and is a single storey with an attic that includes a dormer. The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, and at the east gable end, there is a truncated collar and tie-beam truss supported by four struts beneath the collar. On the south front elevation, there are three ground floor 2-light casement windows, an eyebrow dormer in the west bay, and a thatched gabled porch from the 20th century supported by timber posts, leading to a partly glazed door also from the 20th century. Additionally, there is a lean-to addition at the east gable end.
