Description
The Thatch is a house dating from the 17th century that was restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered and painted brick infill, brick replacement walling, and a thatched roof that is half-hipped at the west gable end, topped with a brick ridge stack. The house consists of three framed bays and is a single storey with an attic that includes a dormer. The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces in the upper corners, and a collar and tie-beam truss with two struts at the east gable end. The truss at the west gable end was rebuilt in the mid-20th century. The windows are 20th-century casements. The north front elevation features two 2-light windows at ground floor level and a central eyebrow dormer that is cut into the thatch, which also has a 2-light window. The main entrance is located beneath the dormer and consists of a ledged and battened door with plank weatherings above. There are attic lights in the gable end. The interior has not been inspected. Additionally, there is a 20th-century T-shaped single-storey brick addition that adjoins the west gable end.
