Description
Crowle Barn is a 17th-century barn that has been converted into a house, with restoration taking place in the mid-20th century. The structure is timber-framed, with some parts replaced with new timber, rendered infill, and a brick plinth, topped with a plain tiled roof. It features three framed bays oriented on an east/west axis and stands two storeys tall. The framing includes four panels from the sill to the wall-plate, long straight braces in the lower corners, and a collar and tie-beam truss with three struts to the collar, along with V-struts exposed in the east gable end.
On the north front elevation, all windows are 20th-century casements; the ground floor has five 2-light windows, while the first floor has one 2-light window. To the right, there is a 20th-century lean-to porch that is timber-framed, part glazed, and features a 20th-century door. A ridge stack is located at the west end, and the gable end has been enclosed within a single-storey extension.
