Description
The Old Granary is a granary that has been converted into a store. It dates back to the 17th century and has undergone some alterations in the mid-20th century. The building features a timber frame with rendered and brick infill and has a half-hipped plain tiled roof. It is oriented on an east/west axis and consists of two levels.
The upper level displays two rows of square panelling with short straight braces in the upper corners. At the gable ends, there are truncated collar and tie-beam trusses with two raking struts positioned below the collar. The ground floor has brick walling between the corner posts.
On the north front elevation, the ground floor is open, with a partition that divides the space laterally to the left of centre. At the west gable end, brick and concrete steps lead up to a ledged and battened door that provides access to the upper level. Above this door, there is a lean-to canopy supported by brackets, and above the canopy, a wood latticed ventilation panel is situated between the raking struts.
