Description

Cutler's Croft is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. It features a timber frame with some replacement timbers set on a lias limestone base, rendered infill, and roughcast on the south gable end, topped with a plain tiled raised roof. The structure consists of three framed bays aligned north to south, with a full-height porch wing to the right of the central bay on the east front elevation. There is an external chimney with offsets at the south gable end, as well as a chimney in the central bay with a brick stack at the rear of the ridge. The house is single storey with an attic that includes half-dormers.

The framing includes four panels from the sill to the wall plate, with some long straight lower braces. The porch wing features small rectangular panels in the front gable and two rows of closely set vertical studding on the side elevation. The north gable end has a collar and tie-beam truss supported by three struts.

On the east front elevation, the arrangement is asymmetrical. The ground floor has a 3-light casement with a plank weathering, a 2-light casement to the left of the porch, and another 3-light casement to the right. Each outer bay has a gabled half-dormer, with the left one containing paired 2-light casements and the right one featuring a 3-light casement. The porch gable end has 3-light casements on both the ground and upper floors, and the main entrance is located on the left side elevation, featuring a 20th-century door with sidelights. The porch and dormer gables are adorned with 19th-century scalloped bargeboards and moulded pendant finials at the apex. The interior has not been inspected.
