Description
Mutton Hall is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill, a plinth, and replacement walling, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building is arranged in three framed bays running east to west, likely with a through-passageway to the east of the central bay, and it has a large external chimney with tiled offsets located at the rear of the central bay. The structure is single storey with an attic, which includes dormers.
The framing consists of three and four panels from the sill to the wall-plate, and it has a collar and tie-beam truss with four struts to the collar and a V-strut in the apex at the east gable end. The north front elevation features two three-light 19th-century casements and a two-light 20th-century casement on the ground floor, all with plank weatherings. There are also three gabled dormers with two-light casements and a 19th-century ledged and battened door. Inside, the house retains its winder staircase. At the rear, there is a 19th-century lean-to addition that encloses the base of the chimney.
