Description
This Baptist chapel dates from 1822. It is constructed of red brick with a slate roof, featuring decorative ridge tiles. The building has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys high with an attic. The south-facing front elevation has three bays, with windows featuring stepped voussoirs. The first floor has four-pane sash windows. The ground floor has a blind window on the left and a 20th-century casement on the right. The central entrance is framed by a wide, square-headed archway with a moulded cornice and entablature, supported by pilasters. This surround incorporates panelled reveals and leads to a small vestibule. The vestibule features a four-pane sash window with a moulded architrave facing the entrance arch, and a six-panelled door on each side, each with a transom light divided into two panes. A band at eaves level forms a pedimented gable, adorned with urn finials at the lower corners. A lunette, set within a moulded architrave, displays the inscription "ERECTED 1822". The side elevations, each with five bays, feature windows with cambered heads and three lights. The interior has not been inspected.
