GV II

Barn and former stable. Early C17, C18, minor alterations C19. Brick-nogged timber framing, shingle roof to barn, English garden wall bond brickwork to stable, tiled roof. Four-bay barn, lofted stable on end forming 'I' plan. Facade to road: low plinth to barn, framing 3 panels high, air vents formed by paired slits. On right 2 blocked doorways; boarded double doors rising to eaves off centre to left. Gable to left end top boarded. Slightly set back on left brick stable, stone plinth; square, shuttered opening under eaves on right; boarded door, wooden frame, cambered brick head in centre: parapet gable. Interior barn: stone paved threshing floor, tie beam trusses with collar and angle struts, straight braces to main posts with tie above; 2 pairs purlins, wind braces, ridge member. Right end lofted at some period. Originally down braces to sill each- side threshing floor, removed by late C20. Lean-to on right gable and buildings behind not of special interest. Forms group with The Minstrels (q.v.).
