Description
Upper Kimbolton Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with a 17th-century addition and 20th-century alterations. It is timber-framed with a sandstone rubble plinth and some refacing, painted brick infill, and sandstone rubble stacks topped with brick shafts. The roof is covered with plain clay tiles. The earlier cross-wing has two framed bays and is aligned north-west to south-east, with a three-bay later wing attached at the south-east end, extending to the south-west. The main entrance is located on the north-west front, which features a gable end of the cross-wing on the left with a three-light 20th-century casement window. The right side of the wing has one two-light casement window, one single-light window, and another three-light 20th-century casement window. There are two similar three-light windows on the ground floor to the right of a 20th-century part-glazed door with sidelights.
Inside, the farmhouse has been altered but still retains chamfered ceiling beams and an ogee-shaped doorhead in the earlier wing, which also features swept wind-braces in the roof.
