Description

Brockmanton Court is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, with early 19th-century and further 20th-century alterations. The building is timber-framed with sections of painted brick infill, wattle-and-daub infill, and brick refacing, sitting on a sandstone rubble plinth with stacks made of brick. It has a tiled roof and features a hall and cross-wing design, with a main axial stack and additional gable-end stacks, and the entrance is located on the east side.

The farmhouse is two storeys high, with cellars and attics. On the east front, there is a single-storey stone addition to the gable-end of the cross-wing on the left. This side includes a 2-light casement window in the gable and a bay window in the later addition on the ground floor. To the right of the entrance, there is a gable with a 3-light casement window on the first floor and a 2-light window next to a six-panelled door. The main range on the right features three gabled dormers, each with 2-light casement windows. On the ground floor, there is one 3-light casement window to the left and a 2-light window along with a 2-light 20th-century window to the right of a ledged door. A 20th-century brick extension projects forward to the right.

Inside, the farmhouse retains a shaped doorhead on the ground floor and a similar doorhead that has been moved to an upper room. There is a large open fireplace with chamfered jambs and a lintel, as well as a good cross-beamed ceiling with steeply chamfered members in the south-west room.
