Description
The Old Rectory is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with a late 19th-century addition. It is constructed of brick with a sandstone rubble plinth and features a hipped Welsh slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan with a central entrance and stairwell, and it faces southeast, with the later addition located on the southwest side.
The house is three storeys high and includes a string course and a moulded cornice. The southeast front has a central pediment that slightly projects forward, featuring a blank oculus in the tympanum. The windows are arranged in a 1:3:1 pattern, with glazing bar sash windows; the second floor has 6-pane windows, while the first and ground floors have 12-pane windows. The central entrance is highlighted by a pedimented doorcase with Doric pilasters and an outer eared architrave, flanked by sidelights and a part-glazed door. The later addition, which is set back to the left, has similar glazing bar sash windows on all floors.
Although the interior has been altered, it still retains a staircase with a ramped handrail.
