Description

This is a gateway with flanking lodges and walls, built in 1846. The structure is constructed from sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings. It is designed in a Tudor Gothic style. The central gateway features a Tudor arch with a gable above, containing a blank rectangular recess. This is flanked by similar arched openings for pedestrian access, with iron gates. To either side are two-story lodges, incorporating two string courses, embattled parapets, and octagonal turrets on each corner, with a panelled top stage to the turrets. Each lodge features a single two-light mullioned window with a label on the first floor, and a three-light window without a label on the ground floor. High stone walls, approximately ten metres in length, flank the lodges, having flat coping and buttressing.
