Description

Fellhampton is a farmhouse dating back to the 16th century, with extensions built during the 17th century and further additions and alterations in the late 18th or early 19th century, alongside 20th-century changes. The house is timber-framed with painted brick infill, a sandstone rubble plinth, and sandstone rubble later additions. It has a slate roof. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with the original wing running north-west to south-east and a later wing extending northeast at the southeast end. A large axial stack rises from the later wing, while two lateral stacks are present on the earlier wing. The farmhouse has two storeys and attics. The south-east front features a sandstone gable end on the left wing, containing a two-light casement window. Below this is a sash window with glazing bars, to the left of a doorway with a canopied porch, overlight, and a six-panelled door. The second wing to the right has two three-light casement windows and a similar two-light window. A central 20th-century partly-glazed door is also present. The timber framing is visible on the south-west side and north-west gable end of the original wing, consisting of both close-studding and four-square panelled framing from sill to wall-plate. Inside, the central ground floor room of the original wing retains a chamfered cross-beamed ceiling.
