Description
House. It likely dates from around 1600, with later work in the 18th century. The building is timber-framed and built with painted rubble, and has roofs covered in stone slate and tile. It has an L-shaped layout. The original north-western wing is single-storey with an attic and features timber framing arranged in three rows of square panels. The left-hand end appears to be a later addition. There are three casement windows on the ground floor, and a gabled attic dormer above. A 20th-century gabled brick porch covers the doorway on the right. The timber frame suggests the original doorway was located between the second and third windows. A chimney stack projects from the right-hand gable. Attached to the right is a two-storey stone rear wing, with two bays. The windows are casements, except for a sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor to the right. A tiled canopy covers the door situated between the bays, and a chimney stands on the front wall to the left. The interior of the timber-framed wing is partially accessible, and shows common ceiling joists that span the front to back. Additional strengthening joists have been tusk-tenoned through the principal posts.
