Description

Revel's Farmhouse is a house that dates back to the 15th century, with alterations made in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. It features timber framing, mostly covered in sandstone rubble, and has a stone slate roof. The building has a half H-plan layout. The north-east wall has three bays with 20th-century casement windows, a door in the right-hand bay, and a 20th-century porch to the left. There is a 20th-century addition on the right side.

On the south-west side, there are two projecting gabled wings. The central hall is recessed, has low eaves, and features a window with a segmental brick head. To the left of the hall is a doorway beneath a 19th-century porch, and to the right is a projecting chimney stack. The right-hand wing extends further forward and has a lean-to addition at ground level, with the gable above weatherboarded. The left-hand wing has a 20th-century bow window on the ground floor and is tile-hung above. The north-west wall of this wing has three bays, with exposed framing arranged in four rows of square panels.

Inside, a door leads into a cross-passage with a timber-framed screen wall separating it from the hall. The north-west wing originally contained service rooms and was later extended to form a full wing. The south-east cross-wing has been extended towards the south-west and includes an early 18th-century stair with turned balusters. The hall features chamfered main beams that support an inserted floor, and part of a cusped central truss is said to be visible on the first floor.
