Description

This is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century and restoration in the 20th century. It is timber-framed with some wattle-and-daub and painted brick infill, and has a sandstone plinth. The roof is covered in Bradstone slate. The three-bay design is aligned north to south, with a through-passage and gable-end stacks. The house has two storeys and attics.

The east front has three slightly projecting windows. To the left are a 7-light and a 5-light casement window, both dating to the 20th century. To the right are two smaller 3-light casement windows, also 20th century, flanking a square-headed doorway with a 20th-century ledged door. The timber framing shows close-studding on the ground floor, with the east side of the ground floor rebuilt in stone. Above the ground floor, there are four square panels to the wall-plate. There are moulded main posts and moulded bressummers that support projecting windows on the upper floor of the east front.

Inside, the house has been largely altered, with a 19th-century staircase inserted into the through-passage. Semi-circular arched doorways remain on the ground floor, although they are now blocked.
