Description
Hartleton Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 18th century, with possible remains from the 17th century. It is constructed of red sandstone ashlar and features a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys with an attic and consists of five bays, with two storey bands. The windows are sashed, featuring keystones, with glazing bars on the first floor and no glazing bars on the ground floor. There are three gabled attic dormers. The cellar has two mullioned windows, each with two lights and rebated and chamfered surrounds. The doorway, which is accessed by external stone steps, has a timber architrave and a bracketed hood. The chimneys on the end walls have truncated caps, with the left-hand chimney featuring a projecting stack. A rear wing includes a 4-light mullioned window. Inside, there is a dog-leg stair made of hardwood with a closed string and turned balusters typical of the 18th century. The left-hand room is lined with raised and fielded softwood panelling, complete with a dado and block cornice. In the rear wing, there are two exposed chamfered ceiling beams with stepped stops.
