Description

White House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and 20th century. The building is timber-framed with wattle-and-daub infill, roughcast render, and a sandstone plinth and stacks. There is also a coursed and squared sandstone rubble addition, and the roofs are tiled, hipped on the later addition.

The main range is aligned north-west to south-east and faces south-west, featuring a cross-wing at the north-west end and a later addition extending to the south-east. There is a central entrance and an additional entrance in the angle of the cross-wing. The structure has a main axial stack and a further lateral stack on the cross-wing.

The farmhouse has two storeys, with the gable end of the cross-wing on the left. It includes a 2-light casement window and a 3-light window on the ground floor. The main range has two 2-light windows on the first floor and a 3-light and a 2-light window on the ground floor to the left of the doorway, which features a canopied porch and a ledged door. There is another porch in the angle of the cross-wing with a half-glazed door. The later stone addition to the right has three 2-light windows with cambered heads on the first floor, a 3-light window, a loop vent, and a ledged door on the ground floor.

The framing, which is partly concealed by 20th-century render, is largely complete with square panels visible in the interior.
