Description
No 52 The Green is a house that may date back to the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century and 20th century. It is timber-framed, primarily featuring painted brick infill, with some areas of wattle-and-daub infill, and has a sandstone plinth. The house has a south external stack and later brick additions, topped with a 20th-century tiled roof.
The structure consists of two framed bays aligned north-south, facing west, with the main entrance located at the northern end. There is a 20th-century forward extension at the entrance, creating a lean-to with a catslide roof. A large external stack is present on the south gable end, accompanied by a later detached shaft, while a 19th-century brick stack is located on the north gable end.
The house is single storey with an attic, featuring two gabled dormers that contain two-light casement windows. On the ground floor, there is one four-light 20th-century casement window and one three-light window to the right of a gabled porch, which has a half-glazed outer door and a 20th-century ledged inner door. The framing is largely intact and enclosed within later additions, originally consisting of three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with V-struts in the gable. A 19th-century addition extends to the east, at the rear of the house.
