Description
Upper Bache Farmhouse is a farmhouse that may date back to the 16th or 17th century, with alterations made in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It features sandstone rubble that may have been used to refinish earlier timber-framing and has a part hipped Welsh slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan that was formerly L-shaped, with a rear wing that has since been demolished. It has axial stacks and an entrance on the southeast front.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and includes a cellar. On the southeast front, the left section has a slightly higher roofline and three 3-light casement windows. To the left of a part-glazed door, there are two similar windows with transom lights. The right section has a 2-light casement window and a 4-light window on the ground floor, along with a ledged door to the right. The Royal Commission on Historical Monuments suggested that the building dates to the 16th or 17th century and noted the quality of the interior timberwork, although the interior was inaccessible during a resurvey. The farmhouse is included for its group value.
