Description

Guiler's Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century and has some 20th-century alterations. It features a combination of timber framing and brick, with a rendered and colourwashed exterior and a pantiled roof. The building has two cross wings, with the western wing projecting to both the north and south of the main block. The north front has two storeys and two bays, with 20th-century casement windows. The gabled 17th-century cross wing to the west has an attic storey and one early 19th-century casement window on each floor. Both roofs are gabled, and the main block has a ridge stack to the right of centre and an internal gable-end stack on the east side. The rear of the farmhouse is dominated by the gables of the two cross wings. The west cross wing has two storeys and an attic, while the remainder does not have an attic. There are 20th-century details throughout the building. The west return of the east cross wing features an open-pedimented doorcase with panelled reveals, which is likely not in its original position. On the first floor, there is a 4-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window. Inside, the east ground-floor room has a cruciform chamfered bridging beam, with one element featuring jewelled stops. The west ground-floor room contains a bridging beam with quadruple jewelled stops, and there is a 20th-century staircase.
