Description
Haynes Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century and has undergone extensive alterations over time. The building features a combination of timber framing with brick infill and brick construction, topped by a steeply pitched tiled roof that is hipped to the west. It has a hall and cross-wing type plan, consisting of a single bay 'hall' and a two-bay cross-wing that intersects to the east, with an 18th-century wing attached to the west gable end, projecting to the rear.
The farmhouse is two storeys high. The main elevation has been partly refaced in brick, featuring a three-course platt band from the early 18th century, with further refacing and changes to the windows occurring in the 20th century. The facade has a 1:2:1 bay arrangement, with all windows being large 20th-century multi-paned casements of two and three lights. The first floor of the cross-wing has transomed windows, and there is a French casement in the left bay of the ground floor. The doorway next to the cross-wing features a 20th-century moulded architrave and canopy supported by console brackets, along with a 20th-century two-panelled door. A chimney stack is located on the ridge to the left of the original range, and there is an additional stack on the side elevation of the cross-wing.
