Description
The Piggery is a barn and cowhouse located at Upper Holling Farm, dating from the early 19th century with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of brick with a plain tile roof and has an L-plan layout, with the barn forming the northeast limb consisting of five bays and a central threshing floor. The brickwork is in English garden bond, featuring every fourth header omitted for ventilation, and a dentilled brick cornice. The barn has a central entrance with an elliptical head and large cart doors, and the roof is hipped to the right.
Inside, there is a flagged threshing floor. The lower cowhouse is two storeys high and originally had six segmental-headed openings on the ground floor, which have now been replaced by 20th-century windows. There is a lean-to structure in the angle of the building.
