Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and has a pantiled roof. The original layout of the house is obscured by a crenellated screen facade that spans two storeys and consists of four wide bays. In the third bay from the left, there is a timber Greek Doric doorcase featuring a pair of engaged fluted columns beneath a plain entablature and hood. The windows are mid-19th century horned sashes with glazing bars, set under gauged skewback arches. The gabled roof of the original house is visible above, with internal 19th-century gable-end stacks. On either side of the main structure are hipped, lower extensions, each one bay wide, which are also fronted by the screen. At the rear, there is a full-length 19th-century glazed conservatory outshut, along with two 19th-century three-light casements on the first floor and stepped gables. Inside, the central room on the ground floor features a sunk-quadrant moulded bridging beam, and there is an early 19th-century stick baluster staircase with a ramped and wreathed handrail.
